Safety - Rules adopted from the Single Action Shooting Society (SASS) are strictly enforced. Ear and eye protection are REQUIRED for all participants and spectator during ALL live fire!

Alias - Participants select an alias out of the Old West or having an Old West flare. Occupations, interests, hobbies, or admired legends in folklore are all fodder for a good alias. This is an opportunity to be creative.

Costumes - Part of the fun and "Spirit of the Game" is the costuming. A simple "Old West" costume is required to participate, but it can be as extravagant as you like. It should be appropriate for the mid-to-late 19 century, or at least be suggestive of the Old West. Costuming is an area where the participant adds to the persona of their character.

Firearms - CAS requires the use of firearms typical of the mid-to-late 1800’s: two revolvers, a rifle, and a shotgun.

• Revolvers - Single Action, chambered in any center fire pistol caliber.

• Rifle - Lever Action or Colt style pump, chambered in any center fire revolver caliber (usually the same caliber).

• Shotgun - 12 ga. or 20 ga.- Double Barreled Side by Side, 1897 pump action or 1887 lever action.

Spirit of the Game - Perhaps the most important aspect of the sport is that we are all here to have fun! We celebrate a time when a person’s word was their bond, a handshake meant something, and honor and sportsmanship stood out. A time when good guys and gals rode high in the saddle.

Everyone is welcome! Shooters as young as 12 -13 have competed right along side some rather ‘seasoned’ shooters. We also try to accommodate shooters with special needs. Whether it’s help with choosing the right firearms, assembling a costume, or picking an alias, CAS shooters stand ready to help anyone interested in joining the fun.

Match Times - Shooter Registration begins at 8:00 am in the clubhouse the morning of the shoot. The Safety Meeting (required for all shooters) begins at 8:55. The Match begins at 9:00.

We usually shoot 4 Stages, break for lunch, then shoot the last 2 Stages. Exact lunch beak time depends on the number of shooters.

We are always looking for help with various Match Duties, so even if you won’t be shooting, come on out and lend a hand.

Set-up and Take-down - It takes a couple of hours of effort from a dedicated group to set up for a match.

Help is always needed and appreciated! Take down is done immediately after the last Stage has been shot. With everyone lending a hand, we make fast work of it.
